With many local soft fruit farms around Blairgowrie, Rattray, Alyth and Coupar Angus offering seasonal outdoor fruit picking jobs, East Perthshire is very well-known for fruit-picking and hugely popular with visiting workers, particularly from Eastern Europe. Most local farms employ overseas students or those who travel throughout Britain looking for seasonal work.
Soft fruit picking is physical work and is not suited to some people with disabilities. Other jobs may be available other than picking in the fields. This can include checking, weighing, packing, labelling jars or selling in the farm shops.
